The wonderful thing about ‘abstract’

Whenever Marja needed some distraction from something she was working on, her hands automatically wandered into more abstract territory. The wonderful thing about ‘abstract’, as she herself states, is there’s no need for it to mean anything. A composition containing expressive colors and shapes that defy easy expression by hand, nevertheless deliver a most satisfying end result.

Most of the art falling under this heading is made on canvas using acrylic paint and mixed techniques. Again we see that Marja has integrated different techniques into every style she has explored. Each time she has mastered a different technique, she immediately puts it to work in a following work of art.
